Foundation // Perfect Sticks On-the-Go for Your Summer & Travels
Finding the perfect foundation and color is no easy task. Your skin probably transitions from light to dark throughout the year (and vice versa), varying by the season. Sometimes, those sunny weekends or vacay times away completely transform your color. The foundation sticks listed here have been tried and tested, and these brands offer a wide range of colors, literally. You can probably find a shade that matches your neck, face, body, or toes (if needed). That is how meticulous and wide their selection of colors are. Chances you'll find your shade are highly likely, hence the recommendations.
Bonus, foundation sticks are always useful and handy. In place of the large, bulky foundations, you can opt for this compact and easy, perfect-for-your-purse foundation. See below for recommendations, review, tips-or-tricks, and where to get these beauties.
Bobbi Brown: This is a non-oily and non-drying perfect concealer for the summer. This works great under your foundation or by itself. When my foundation is not available (those times when I leave it at home), I just pull this bobbi baby out and use it in place of my foundation, and it works amazingly well.
My Experience: For this past weekend, we decided to go somewhere quiet and a place full of nature, Dinant. It's a beautiful, green city filled with chateaus and hiking trails. During this trip, I had left my main foundation at home but had this foundation stick in my makeup bag. I simply concealed a few places with red spots and blemishes and used my beauty blender to blend out the foundation, and it looked so natural. Best part, it was quick and easy, that I could make it out in time to explore the city.
Trick or Tip: Prior to foundation, gently create highlight zones on top of your cheek bones, forehead, nose tip, and chin (or just area below the lips). This creates the ultimate natural highlight effect if you are going for an everyday or subtle look. Using highlighters after foundation can be too much of an obvious highlight to these zones so try this to give a more natural look. If you have fair to warmer skin tone, try the Alabaster shade for this effect.
Price range: 44.00 USD / 42 EURO (approx)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Foundation Stick: Another non-oily and non-drying perfect concealer for the summer. Much like the Bobbi Brown, this works great under your foundation or by itself.
My Experience: Using this under my foundation to create highlight zones have been an absolute daily ritual. I have not yet noticed any differences between this and Bobbi Brown. They both conceal very well and feels light on your skin. The main difference is in the price. Anastasia is half the price with the stick at $25 at Sephora.
Trick or Tip: Similar to the Bobbi Brown stick, prior to main foundation, gently create highlight zones on top of your cheek bones, forehead, nose tip, and chin (or just area below the lips). This creates the ultimate natural highlight effect if you are going for an everyday or subtle look. If you have fair to warmer skin tone, try the Porcelain shade for this effect.
Trick or Tip #2: Opt for a darker shade in place of contouring sticks to create shadows and depth zones around your face.
Price range: 25.00 USD
